30th June 2026 Prof. Piotr Trzonkowski co-authored a prestigious publication in Frontiers in Science with a Nobel Prize winner The prestigious journal Frontiers in Science has published a review article, “Regulatory T cells: master orchestrators of immune tolerance and tissue homeostasis,” co-authored by Prof. Piotr Trzonkowski, President of the Management Board and Chief Scientific Officer of PolTREG SA. The article was prepared by a group of world leaders in regulatory T cell (Treg) research, including Dr. Frederick J. Ramsdell, winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. This publication is unique in its nature. It is a Lead Article—an invited review article published by Frontiers in Science, whose aim is to identify the most important directions for development in a given field of science. The six co-authors include scientists who have been contributing to global knowledge on the biology and therapeutic use of regulatory T cells for decades. Professor Piotr Trzonkowski is the only representative from Europe and the only representative of a European biotechnology company in this group. This article presents the current state of development of Treg therapy and suggests that the future of treatment for autoimmune diseases and other conditions associated with an abnormal immune response will rely on precise tolerance restoration rather than nonspecific immune suppression. The authors summarize the results of clinical trials to date and describe the next generation of Treg therapies—from polyclonal products to advanced solutions such as CAR-Treg, TCR-Treg, and in vivo therapies. The publication also confirms the growing maturity of the entire therapeutic category. The authors point to the ongoing review process by the US FDA for the first regulatory application for a therapy using polyclonal regulatory T cells, which represents an important milestone for the development of Treg therapies worldwide. For PolTREG, co-authoring this publication is a significant confirmation of the company’s position in the global ecosystem of cell therapies. The presence of Professor Piotr Trzonkowski among the most distinguished experts in the field of Treg strengthens the company’s scientific credibility and confirms that the development directions pursued by PolTREG—including both polyclonal therapies and next-generation Treg products—are aligned with the global vision for the development of this groundbreaking technology.
